Lone Gull

lone gull gliding
lone gull lost at sea
lone gull where light’s ocean breaches
sends sound out to where men from portholes wish wives were near
they are lone
and hold congress where whale’s bodies beach
along diminishing tides
where Atlantis lies
lone gull at whom stones are thrown
by boys long men, long buried, long
sent home by waves and words
their emersion
white night
bright star
now lonely like the gulls and free to dream
on other oceans besides our own
lone gull
find me please
take me home
