The Corroboree

in this town
black feet brave.
brave the spinifex,
brave the broken glass,
brave the hotplate blacktop,
brave the ants, the spiders and
serpents hiding in the hot dry bush

but sometimes
black thaya bright.
bright with thurnigu,
bright with nyurnimalgu,
bright with binyjirrwarnilgu,
bright with gunangugubanyilgu
that takes us brightly, bravely away.

Thanks for checking out my poem.

Did I tell you I wrote a novel? You can read it here for free, or get it for your e-reader on iBooks, Amazon or Kobo. Or you can just say you read the book, and donate five bucks down below. Go on.
