The Eye

The eye first apprehends itself—
that is its seeing, in Godless obscurity
its identity is incorporate in the things
that don’t take shape—its self is empty
enmity with substance, and the
mouth, proceeding from the need to
feel first screams its observations:
“I see self! I speak the act of seeing—
throw me darkly, speaking and seeing
into the deep religion of my mind!”
